This classic from Minas Gerais cuisine is perfect for any occasion. With sweet starch, parmesan cheese, and just a few other ingredients, you’ll delight your guests with a simple, easy, and delicious crispy cheese bread.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sweet starch (400 g)
  • 1 and a half cups milk (300 ml)
  • half a cup oil (100 ml)
  • 1 egg (50 g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (5 g)
  • half a cup grated parmesan cheese (50 g)
  • 1 cup grated minas padrão cheese (100 g)

Modo de preparo

  1. In a large bowl, place the starch and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, place the milk and oil, and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Transfer to the bowl with the starch and mix well with a spoon.
  4. Let the dough cool slightly and knead with your hands until lukewarm. Add the egg and incorporate it into the dough. Add the salt and cheeses, and keep mixing until you get a smooth, homogeneous dough.
  5. Shape into small balls and arrange them on a greased baking sheet. Bake in a medium oven (180 degrees), preheated, for 20 minutes, or until golden.
  6. Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
