Homemade options can help save money and avoid long food lines at the event

São Paulo, August 2022 – After a long wait, one of Brazil’s biggest music festivals returns to the City of Rock between September 2nd and 11th, in Rio de Janeiro. It will be seven days full of joy, countless shows, and entertainment from all over the world!

The audience will be able to enjoy more than 250 performances and experience exciting and extreme attractions such as the zipline, mega drop, roller coaster, and Ferris wheel. But to make the most of the event, hydration and nutrition need to be on point!

According to the event’s rules, you can bring up to five items in your backpack, either packaged or snack-style. According to Umami Committee nutritionist Mariana Rosa, for those who want to enjoy busy festival days in a lighter and more economical way, she shares two recipes to take along: sweet potato chips and a roast beef sandwich. “Sweet potato chips, for example, are easy to prepare and provide satiety and umami taste, making the moment even more flavorful and enjoyable thanks to the natural presence of glutamate in the ingredients,” she highlights.

The same goes for the sandwich — it’s practical to prepare and still provides the necessary nutrients to keep your energy levels high while aiding digestion. The nutritionist emphasizes that, to maintain the chips’ crunchiness and comply with the event’s rules, both the chips and the sandwich should be packed in transparent zip lock bags.

Now it’s time to prepare these umami delights and enjoy lots of music! Check out the step-by-step recipes below:

UMAMI
It is the fifth basic taste of the human palate, discovered in 1908 by Japanese scientist Kikunae Ikeda. It was scientifically recognized in 2000, when researchers from the University of Miami confirmed the existence of specific receptors for this taste on the taste buds. The amino acid glutamic acid and the nucleotides inosinate and guanylate are the main umami substances. The two main characteristics of umami are increased salivation and the persistence of taste for a few minutes after food ingestion. To learn more, visit www.portalumami.com.br.
